Your Thought World
by Ed Hirsch
I know that you have heard the saying *Practice MakesPerfect.* It is amazing to me how many words and phrases wethink and speak on a regular basis which are basically NOTtrue!
Practice ONLY makes Perfect if it is *Perfect Practice*,which is usually not the case.
If we practice something wrong, we will simply continue todo that thing wrong. By continually fixing and refining theprocess, improving on it, and measuring the increasingresults ... this will move us closer to excellence (notperfection).
More accurately, let's modify the phrase to *Practice MakesPermanent.* What you do on a regular consistent basis (orwhat you practice), this becomes your habit(s), which setsthe pace for how you actually live your life by and therespective accomplishments that occur within it.
Yes, you become what your regular habits are, and thisincludes the thoughts (and thought patterns) that youcontinually carry around with you in your head (all thetime - even on weekends).
I recently learned a new phrase ... and an accurate one atthat! The phrase is actually just another simple conceptcalled your *Thought World.* Wow ... your THOUGHT WORLD... and No, it is not a different planet than Earth, however, for most of us, it feels this way.
What goes on in this World effects your every word spoken, movement made and ultimately, whether you succeed or not inwhatever it is, that is really going on IN your ThoughtWorld.
It is very important to take control and completeresponsibility to the *goings on* in this special place(located in the small 6 inch area between your ears). Themain reason that it is so important is because this is theONE and ONLY thing we, as individual human beings, DOactually HAVE control of. If this *authority* is NOTgrabbed with tight fist *by the horns,* high probability isthat you have NO control at all in your life ... Oops!
I hope and pray this is not YOU! And if it is, it is nevertoo late to being *working this muscle* of the human mind.Develop and strengthen it. Focus attention on using yourThought World to concentrate and take serious action onmoving in the direction that you were initially created for.Exploit your strengths, joys and areas of fulfillment, whileincreasingly minimizing the *not so good* parts.
Going for your Dreams is not an overnight process. You needto take a permanent vacation into your Thought World tocreate the way you know it should be for you. Takeresidence here, if only in your mind and heart at first.Think now, the way you will think then, when your ThoughtWorld transforms your Thought into Physical reality.
Relax ... take refuge, have fun and be strengthened each dayin YOUR Thought World.
