Success? In Who's Eyes

In the last few weeks, I have written a couple of articles where I have made light of some of the "stranger" subscribers I have had dealings with. The number are a few in quite an array of wonderful people that I have met.
There have been so many people that have been so kind. I could start mentioning names but then I would have no space left to write. There are many and they come from all walks of life and many countries.
To be truthful, it has restored a whole lot of my faith in people as a whole. I worked out in the world for many years and became quite disenchanted with the dog eat dog sector.
Quite a few years back, I moved up on top of a mountain and started my own advertising business. It changed my world drastically.
My closest neighbors, which really aren't close, include an artist and a single man who makes silk ties at home. The artist has an unbelievable talent and the tie maker actually makes ties for the United States Olympic Team, along with anyone else who wears $75 silk ties.
You probably could not find a map that includes our little town. In fact, it is quite a stretch calling it a town. You can't even get a personal visit from UPS. They drop things off at the local tavern and then put your name on a board to notify you. Yet this lifestyle has restored my faith in humanity.
I live in a place that has peace oozing from the earth. I work among those surroundings but still touch base with thousands from all over the world. Most of the people I meet, seem to go out of their way to be helpful. The one's that are rude are as easy to ignore as a click of the delete button.
When I made the move six years ago, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was used to working for myself, I had been doing that for years. I was not afraid to venture into the advertising business, I loved to write and had confidence that I could handle the job. Still, there is always something about venturing into the unknown.
I came to love my job in advertising. It was great to write a campaign that was successful. I actually seemed to feel the joy of my clients when we hit the right campaign. There was still something more that I wanted.
When I decided to start publishing this ezine, I thought it would be a nice change of pace until I wrote a book that I had been planning to write. Now today, a book is the farthest thing from my mind.
The people that I meet in this business, well it's inspiring. I look forward to getting mail from my readers. I like helping them find the things that will hopefully make them successful. I guess the big question is what is success.
I certainly have no plans to get rich writing and publishing this ezine but the joy that comes from it is beyond words. In a world where so many are living in fear or sorrow, I feel like someone has given me a great big dose of peace. Success? Maybe not in a sense that many would think of it, but for me, I'm on top of the world.
