What do the search engines look for on your site. Well
first of all each search engine has different requirements
for you to be indexed into their directory or database.

Each search engine is very unique in their own way and have
different rules that you must meet before they list your
site.

So with that in mind we are going to look at each search
engine and open directory on a individual bases. Lets take
Alta Vista first and then we will look at the rest of the
search engines.

AltaVista is a crawler base search engine you can hand
submit your web page by going to this site
http://addurl.altavista.com/addurl/default it will take
4 to 8 weeks depending on what kind of website you have.
You can expect the crawler to revisit your site every 2
to 4 weeks.

Make sure you Use the basic submit option, this will save
you alot of money and you will get the same results that
the paid inclusion offers.

It will ask you to log in to your Yahoo.com account, if
you don't have one you can get one for free just sign up
and then login.

When you submit your site at Yahoo.com, make sure you
submit your main url for indexing, not each individual
pages.

Also make sure each page is different in content and they
are not the same pages that you are submitting due to you
do not want to get your url banned from the crawler
indexing of your site.

The search engines do band you from indexing your url due
to SPAMMING THEM WITH multiple pages and from using
tricks on your pages.

Also make sure each site has a different web address to
them this will keep you in good standing with AltaVista
or any other search engine you might submit to.

AltaVista will not except pages with tricks on them,
let me explain what I mean here.

Such as Invisible text, very small text such as #1 #2
in size, those that use misleading pages such as the
content does not match your keywords or your title or
description content, also doorway pages that don't look
like your url pages or that don't have real solid
content.

Also these factors will also keep you from being indexed
into their database and AltaVista calls this spamming
their database. DO NOT USE THESE THINGS ON YOUR PAGE.

1. Using meta refresh coding this refreshes your page
every 30 seconds to every 30 days or so, this is only
trouble waiting to happen DO NOT DO THIS

2. Keyword repetition of the same keywords or keyword
phrases. Like limo, limo, limo, limo, limo do you get
what I am saying here do not do this. DO NOT DO THIS

3. Invisible text this is when you use the same color
background of your text such as white background and
white text. DO NOT DO THIS

4. Page Swapping this is when you submit to AltaVista
the right way and then you switch the page with
something totally different in content. DO NOT DO THIS

5. Any redirection coding stay away from this or your
Url could be considered a Spam site and you will never
get it into the index and as a result no one will be
able to find you. DO NOT DO THIS

Much Success
