Color-Coding Worksheet Tabs in Excel

You can color code worksheet tabs to make them easier to recognize. Tabs for inactive sheets will have a solid background in the chosen color. The tab for the active sheet is underlined in the chosen color. There are 56 colors to choose from.
1. Select the tab(s) for the worksheets you want to color.
2. Right-click on one of the selected tabs and choose Tab Color from the shortcut menu.
3. Select a color and then click the OK button.
An example of color-coded worksheets is shown below.
