Cell Phone Plans
by Max Bellamy
Owning a cell phone has become the need of the hour. In our busy lives we all require a tool that can help us to stay in touch with each other. A cell phone does just that. It provides twenty-four hour connectivity with most places in the US. But you must choose the best available and cost-effective plan.
The first step towards picking a cell phone plan is to judge the number of minutes you are going to need. The company's salesperson will tell you that the plans offer some set quantity of peak minutes and a relatively high number of off-peak talk time. The most appealing plan is the cell-to-cell call minutes, which allow you to talk to people using same cell service for free or at a very low cost.
If you are a planning to use your mobile phone more in the evening or on the weekends, focus on the plans offering discounts for these times. Generally, all the carriers include long-distance calls for free in their plans. Hence, people prefer using their cell phones for these calls, as compared to using their fixed lines. Find out whether your cell phone plan is offering a sufficient number of minutes during the nights and weekends, or else you will end up paying extra for overage charges.
Try to learn more about the plan's roaming charges. If you are traveling a lot it will be wise for you to go for a plan which doesn't have roaming charges; otherwise you will end up paying a hefty amount in cell phone bills. Going for a family or shared plan will cost you less per person and it gives you the advantage of choosing a free cell phone for yourself. People who use their cell phones rarely or want to put a ceiling on the usage should go for a prepaid cell phone plan.
