DNS Hosting

In common parlance, DNS hosting is known as web hosting. Basically, there are Internet service providers who host websites over the Internet, providing services to the companies or individuals setting up websites. Most DNS hosts take complete responsibility for purchasing and registering domain names, providing the DNS services, and designing and providing content to set up the site. They are also responsible for updating the site from time to time.

However, the smaller-scale DNS hosts may take up selected responsibilities, instead of the entire package. For instance, they would function only as Internet service providers, ensuring that the client is well-placed on the Internet. The creative aspect of website development may be delegated to a separate entity altogether.

Some DNS hosting companies partake in what is commonly known as domain parking. They purchase innumerable domain names, reserving an IP address for them on the net. Some such hosts organize online auctions for domain names; others just sell them to purchasers. It all depends on price they quote.

DNS hosting can vary from being a basic web-page host, which is usually done at no cost or is sponsored by some company, to an online advertisement, to being a complete host taking care of every aspect. Generally, a host not only has domain names in the offing, but also server space. The price one pays the DNS host depends on the services being asked for. So if you are looking for a basic service, such as simply technically hosting the page or website, then there is a separate package. However, if you want the service provider to create and maintain your web page, site or portal, then there is a basic fee, along with a yearly maintenance fee that is charged. In case your site needs daily live updates, then that entails an additional expenditure.
