I work at a printing press. We specialized in custom Post card printing , business cards, business card samples, wedding invitations etc. My job is to help create designs, fill out customer request forms and help customers figure out what kind of style they want before it goes to press. Many things that we work on are invitations. I would interview a potential client and draw some sketches and other notes about their wedding style, party or event. After a couple days, I would email them a sample invitation letter, invitation design , invitation letter examples and they would get back to me on what sample invitation they liked best.

One of the more popular designs lately was the baby footprint invitation. Maybe it was in the air- but there were a lot of pregnant women lately, or people that had just had babies, so the invitation was really popular. And maybe because it came in pink or blue and it was the cutest little baby footprint. The other thing keeping us busy was new business card printing because of our ad that said we would make 100 business cards for you and you would get another 100 Business cards free .

The free business cards were a very popular special, as were the upcoming holiday cards, either personally designed or purchased in a box form. Many people like to buy the easy pre-made holiday cards that already come with red envelopes, but some people like to create their own. Most people come in and use our color printer to print Christmas card photos for their Christmas card.

Personalized and custom-made invitations or business cards are expensive. Any bride can tell you the high cost of invitations, the specialty paper, the ink and not to mention the stamps that cost money too.

I don’t believe the modern day printing press will cease to exist any time soon. Sure, home computer presses are handy, but people are busy- ink is expensive to purchase and the population isn’t declining. People will continue to be born, get married and have parties. It controls the lines out the door to have personal computer home printing- but for professional, high quality paper and ink choices- the modern day printing press is your best bet.
